Deck the Halls, Drop Some Balls

Tuesday, December 8, 2026, 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM EST

90 min

December asks more of you than any other month, and it doesn't come with a plan for what you'll stop doing. In this small group, you'll decide what has earned a spot this year and learn four ways to lighten the rest. You'll leave with a clear picture of what you can drop and what deserves your energy, plus one handoff ready to send. The session isn't recorded, so you can bring your real list.

About this group

The holidays come with a plan for everything: the travel, the menu, the gifts, the cards, the class party sign-ups. What doesn't get planned? What you'll stop doing in order to make room for it all. The seasonal work lands on top of your three ongoing jobs: career, caregiving, and the third shift of family admin that runs underneath both. So the month that's meant to hold the most joy ends up holding the most work. Let's change that. In this 90-minute small-group workshop, we'll borrow a move from the business world: naming not just what we'll do, but what we'll stop doing. No team takes on a big project without adding resources or moving something else off the roadmap. Instead of asking how to magically fit everything in without becoming frazzled and frustrated, we'll decide what actually gets a spot on your list this year -- and what to do with the things that don't. In this session, you'll: • Identify which parts of the season bring your family joy, and which ones only bring more work • Discover and apply 4 different ways to reduce your overall burden • Plan for the things that creep back onto your list after you let them go • Leave with a concrete handoff for at least one item (including the actual words you'll send to a partner, family member or helper) In sum, this group equips you to spend your energy on the moments that matter, not on trying to do and be everything to everyone at once. The group is small and the session isn't recorded, so you can bring your real list and your honest answers, and get ideas from the ways other parents are deciding what to let go. We'll do spot coaching and troubleshooting in real time -- this is not a seminar, it's an active group where we solve things live (instead of giving you homework!). Led by Jennifer Mickel, founder of The Third Shift, a company that applies management frameworks to the mental load of parenthood. Jennifer is a mother of two, former MBB consultant, JD-MBA, and coach.
